Meridian Industrial indexed 14k product pages and tripled RFQ volume.
A B2B industrial seals catalog where buyers search by competitor part numbers more often than by their own. We rebuilt the filter system on Magento attributes, added a competitor cross-reference feature, restructured SEO URLs, and wired the RFQ form to the sales pipeline.
// §01
The brief.
The client sells industrial seals to engineers and procurement teams. Their buyers don't shop by SKU, they shop by the competitor part number printed on the seal they're replacing. The legacy site had no way to surface a cross-reference, so half the search traffic bounced.
We were asked to fix three things: filter attributes that were inconsistent across product categories, an SEO URL structure that was generating duplicate-content warnings in Search Console, and an RFQ form that nobody on the sales team trusted because it dropped 30% of submissions silently.
$ cat ./constraints.txt
· Competitor part number search must return results in under 400ms
· Filter attributes consistent across 14k product pages
· Canonical URL structure that resolves all duplicate-content warnings
· RFQ form with delivery confirmation and pipeline integration
· FTP setup for a vendor's nightly catalog feed
// §02
The approach.
Four phases. Eight weeks. One senior dev, one BA, ongoing weekly syncs with the client's sales team.
01
Audit
Filter attribute audit across all 14k products. We found 23 different ways the same material spec had been entered. Output: a normalized attribute schema and a migration script.
02
Architect
Competitor part number feature built as a lookup table with fuzzy matching, indexed in Elasticsearch. SEO URLs rewritten with canonical rules in nginx. RFQ form rebuilt with explicit delivery confirmation and a failover queue.
03
Build
Six weeks. Filter migration ran in batches over three nights to avoid catalog downtime. Vendor FTP feed integrated with nightly sync and validation. RFQ form tested against the sales team's CRM.
04
Launch + monitor
Post-launch indexing watched via Search Console. Canonical fixes resolved 4.2k duplicate-content warnings in the first month.

Our buyers can finally search by competitor part numbers. RFQ volume tripled in the first quarter and the sales team trusts the form now.
